  • Work with the R&D and PD groups during product/process development trials for all new and changing product constructions. This includes support for plant trials and the implementation/documentation of processing parameters (DOEs) from raw material to final part. 
  • Identify, prepare and implement processing equipment and procedures to produce any new products.  Interfacing with operations, maintenance, and outside integrators and contractors is required.  Research and analyze process systems that will enhance the ability to meet the corporation s product strategy goals.  These enhancements include new and/or improved processes.
  • Provide systems and/or processes that take into account the end user's function, timing, cost, safety, environment, ergonomics, cycle time, robustness, ease of setup, maintainability and manufacturability.
  • Interface with production and quality engineers and technicians to troubleshoot and eliminate material quality and process failure issues (includes DOEs and other studies so cause and effects can be identified).
  • Responsible for the preparation of PFMEAs for all new launched parts. Utilize part prints, DFMEAs, material specifications and equipment controls/limits as reference for their creation. Work with the quality department to see that these are carried over into the control plans and floor paperwork.
  • Establish manufacturing parameters based on the statistical capabilities (6 sigma principles) of the process to produce high quality product. Maintain and improve process capabilities of existing products.  Identify and implement key process changes and upgrades to improve productivity, quality, and capability.
  • Conduct and participate in run-at-rate and capability studies on new parts/processes to verify parts are meeting quoted rates and are running efficiently.  Input process related components into production quotes for new parts.   Manage and execute tooling design, tooling orders, fabrication cut files, and CAD systems as required for new and existing programs.
  • Manage process related capital expenditure projects as required.
  • Establish, document and teach operating, safety, and maintenance instructions.

Authorities of this position include:

  • Work with the appropriate L&L departments to gather information, develop and submit proposals for approval.
  • Coordinate resources to address daily production needs and implement improvement ideas, including responsibility for the maintenance department (maintenance and set up technicians) and process technicians.
  • Contact and request bids for designed systems and components. Submit purchase requisitions for approval.

Create training documentation and work instructions; effectively deploy these to production
