Duties / Responsibilities of this position include: (List the essential functions of the job)

  • Mold Repair and Preventive Maintenance as required to support Development, Production and Preventive Maintenance.
  • Maintain, clean and keep tooling in running order. This includes evaluation of molds and dies by reading part samples and examining tooling for wear and damage.
  • Work with Engineers, Technicians, and Group Leaders to evaluate new part samples from molds and dies. Working with Mold Engineering as necessary, develop repair plans for tools that can be repaired in house.
  • Support tooling engineering to examine and modify/correct molds and other tooling by most economical and feasible method to bring parts to print if required after sampling.
  • Fabricate details needed for mold and die repair, using CNC and other shop equipment in a proper and safe manner. Program and design tool paths etc., as required.
  • Maintain a high level of organization and cleanliness appropriate with the plant 6S standards.
  • Observe mold and die trials, and support production as needed to handle floor calls and requests.
  • Work in a safe and efficient manner.  Constantly monitoring area for safety hazards and housekeeping issues and working with appropriate personnel to resolve these issues quickly.
  • Complete all associated documents including work order systems and business management systems.
  • Contribute to the Plant Continuous Improvement efforts
  • Ensure all production & related equipment is in a safe and nonhazardous working order.  This is to prevent injury to personnel and/or damage of equipment.

 

 

 

 

Environmental Responsibilities:

         Maintain familiarization with proper safety/spill protocols and hazardous/controlled handling procedure.

         The proper handling of any wastes as generated from tool repair activities.

Authorities of this position include: (List the authorities of this job.)

  • Maintain and repair injection molds and hot manifold systems for use in the manufacturing plant.
  • Utilize equipment as needed to machine and assemble tools and machinery. Use any available equipment for which the individual is qualified, as needed to efficiently clean and repair injection molds. Request additional resources as needed to complete any necessary machining.
  • Develop and implement continuous improvement efforts for injection mold maintenance and repair.
  • Request engineering assistance to find solutions to problems that prevent tooling from meeting specifications. Resolve and close out issues to prevent recurrence.
  • Develop and coach other machinists/mold maintenance personnel to expand knowledge of machining and mold construction.
  • Complete all associated documents including PM checklists, repair work orders and requisitions for needed supplies and parts.
  • Observe and educate others in proper safety measures, including lockout-tagout and machine shutdown protocols.
  • Properly handle wastes generated from tool maintenance activities.
  • Work closely with Area Leaders, setup and process personnel, and production technicians in a close team environment to deliver defect-free injection molded product to our customers.
